While physical armor is often very important, even life saving, we need armor for our spirits too. Satan loves to promote chaos, division, and fear. We need to develop protective armor around our minds and spirits. If you read only one source below, I’d start with Suzanne Freeman’s Through the Window of Life – a near death experience and the events she “saw” very closely matches scriptural prophecy.
I grew up in the shadow of WWII so uncertainty and fear were always hanging about the shadowy edges of my life. But that great conflict spawned many books and movies that safely put me into each story without risk. I found I slowly acquired some insight into both sides of human nature: good and evil, with lingering feelings of fear and vulnerability surrounding my “White Picket Fence” childhood!
But a big breakthrough came when I consciously chose to swift my focus from Satan to a serious study of how God works. I’m amazed at how many miracles and last-minute saves populate our scriptures and inspirational literature. The biggest effect surprised me: I was happier, more at peace, and then I felt stronger, braver. That’s a big deal because I like safety and comfort – a lot. So this is probably a case of being able to “Talk the Talk” but can I keep this up when I have to “Walk the Walk”?

* TV MINI SERIES: Winds of War (18 hours), sequel: War and Remembrance (30 hours), available from many libraries and DVDs on Amazon – probably the best and most ambitious series on TV ever, and the first to get permission to actually film in Auschwitz. Based on Herman Wouk’s The Winds of War and War and Remembrance with sidebars of accurate history (long: 2,000 pages total), both books and TV series are extremely well done. Watch John Houseman and John Gielgud as Aaron Jastrow, Ally McGraw and a young Jane Seymour as Natalie Jastrow.
